01 — Overview
Why study IT and cybersecurity in Europe
Europe is short of software engineers, data scientists and security specialists, and it is training them in English.
IT is the most popular field among the Sri Lankan students we work with, and the choice in Europe is wide: from core computer science to specialised degrees in network security, artificial intelligence and data science.
For cybersecurity, Linnaeus University in Sweden offers a BSc in Network Security, Vilnius University a BSc in Information Systems and Cyber Security, and Saint Martin’s Institute in Malta an MSc in Information Security. For AI and data, look at KTU, Vilnius University, Constructor University and University West.
Many of these programmes accept students from any A/L stream with strong Mathematics, and several master’s degrees accept graduates from related fields.
- 01Specialist degrees in cybersecurity, AI and data science.
- 02Taught in English with project-based learning.
- 03A tech job market that is short of graduates.
- 04Startup ecosystems in Vilnius, Kaunas and Malta.
- 05EU-recognised degrees under the Bologna framework.

04 — Entry
What universities usually ask for
Every university sets its own rules. This is what most files need. We check yours against each programme.
- Any A/L stream for many IT bachelor's degrees, often with a pass or better in Mathematics
- Physical Science for computer engineering programmes
- A related bachelor's degree, or sometimes an HND, for master's entry
- English: IELTS or an equivalent test
- Transcripts, translated and attested where needed
- A valid passport
05 — Questions
What students ask us
Can I study cybersecurity in Europe in English?
Yes. Linnaeus University (Sweden) offers a BSc in Network Security, Vilnius University a BSc in Information Systems and Cyber Security, and Saint Martin's Institute (Malta) an MSc in Information Security.
Do I need the Maths stream for IT?
Not always. Many IT degrees accept any A/L stream with a good result in Mathematics at O/L or A/L. Computer engineering usually expects Physical Science.
Can I do a master's in IT with an HND?
Some universities accept HND holders for related master's programmes, others want a bachelor's degree. We check your file against each one.
Which country is best for IT students?
Lithuania and Malta have busy tech scenes, Sweden has strong employers and family rights, and Germany has a large job market. We help you weigh them.
Can I work part-time in IT while I study?
Part-time work is allowed in every country we cover, within limits. Students with coding skills often find paid work more easily.
How much does it cost?
Fees depend on the university. Ask for a free written estimate and we will set out tuition and living costs.
